We have reached an age, in India and elsewhere in the world, where elections means money. The candidates who run for MP or MLA posts in India need crores and crores of money, for advertisements, campaigning and everything else. This money need is met by billionaire industrialists, whether it is Reliance, Adani, Tata or Birla who in a way decide the final winner.

In the United States which is ahead of us by a few decades- a businessman has taken it as a challenge to occupy the post of President of his country and lead it—where? The rhetoric is- “he wants to make America great again.” The fact is countries do not run on pure rhetoric but election campaigning really does.
