Pakistan’s legendary cricket captain, fast bowler and all-rounder and now politician since 22 years is now set to be the next Pakistan Prime Minister and his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) is projected to get nearly 122 of the 272 National Assembly seats in a General election, held on Wednesday, which was marred by violence (on voting day a bomb killed 31 people at a polling station.in Quetta) and allegations of widespread rigging.

In a televised address to the nation on 26.7.2018, Thursday, even as the counting and final results are still awaited,Imran Khan declared, “Thanks to God, we won and we were successful. If God wills, we will set an example.”

Figures from the Electoral Commission show Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party has 105 of the 272 National Assembly constituencies being contested. The PML-N party of the former disgraced PM Nawaz Sharif, were the second with 57 and the PPP, led by Bilawal Bhutto is projected to come third with 35 seats. Earlier,unofficial projections from Pakistan’s Dawn Newspaper reported the PTI on 120.

Meanwhile both the PML-N and the PPP have alleged rigging and questioned the delay in declaration of the final results. A total of 137 seats is required for a majority.
