Given the degree of hatred that is flying around for anyone and anything that does not confirm with the present day hypernational “Bharath”, it was not surprising to know that the official figures for communal violence has gone up last year.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Ahir told Parliament on Tuesday,6.2.2018 that 111 people died in 822 communal incidents in India in 2017.The number of communal incidents have risen since 2015 and 2016 and the highest number of communal incidents occurred in Uttar Pradesh, where 44 people were killed and 542 people were injured in 195 incidents. Karnataka followed next with 100 communal incidents, in which nine people were killed and 229 were injured, while Rajasthan came third where 12 people were killed and 175 injured in 91 riots.
