A helicopter, VTPWA Dauphin AS365 N3 – took off from the Pawan Hans airbase in Juhu at 10.20 am and last made contact with the Air Traffic Control at 10.35 am, today, Saturday, January 13th.. It was scheduled to land at ONGC’s (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited) North Field oil rig at 10.58 am, but did not. It was carrying 5 ONGC officials along with 2 crew members.

The Indian Coast guard recovered five bodies after it located the debris of helicopter today. The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy are still carrying out search and rescue operations together.

The bodies of deputy general manager Pankaj Garg and VK Bindu Lal Babu were recovered near the debris of the chopperThe reason for the crash is not yet known. The search for the missing persons is still on.

“The Navy and the Coast Guard are on the job. I am also going to Mumbai to coordinate things,” Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan said. The minister said he discussed the matter with Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. “She is also cooperating and has instructed the Navy and the Coast Guard to look into the issue extensively,” he said.
