‘2 Countries’ is getting released at a time when Sunil’s existence as hero is questioned everywhere. He teamed up with director N. Shankar whose last outing was 7 years back. Let us see whether ‘2 Countries’ could provide a hit

Story

Ullas (Sunil) is one such guy who does anything for the sake of money. He goes to an extent where he cheats and grabs an NRI match to settle down in life. His plan becomes successful and he ties the knot with NRI Laya (Manisha Raj). Later, he gets to know that she is an alcoholic and rest of the films runs on Ullas trying to get things back on the track.

Performances

Sunil completely looked out of shape and form in this film. He doesn’t look like a hero and sounded very loud at times. He was just okay. Heroine Manisha was impressive and looked good onscreen by giving a decent performance.

There are a lot of artists in this flick like Srinivas Reddy, Prudhvi, Devgil and Naresh. But, none of them excelled in their roles and just managed to fill the frame.

Technicians

Cinematography by Ram Prasad is absolutely one of the or the only positive point in this film as he captured visuals quite brilliantly. Music by Gopi SUndar is definitely not up to his standards. Dialogues are very routine and reminded of 80’s films. Editing of the film is poor as it tests the patience of the audience with snail pace. Production values by Shankar are good as the richness is visible in every frame.

Shankar failed badly in the direction department as he could justify the remake. The narration is slow and comedy looked quite silly. This is his weakest film till date and looked completely out of form.

Analysis

The film looked outdated right from the word go. The comedy scenes didn’t workout and the loudness would irate you at many places. Audience would be scratching their heads after a bizarre first half.

While the second half has some funny moments and a good emotional last 15 minutes, the interest over the film dies already.

Final word

The film had nothing right going its way and would add to the list of Sunil’s disasters.
