“We are concerned that the UID has, step by little step, encroached upon and disrupted the lives of many and denied their entitlements to many more, particularly amongst the poor,” six former Indian Administrative Services officers wrote in their letter to the Prime Minister.

The letter expressed their serious concers about the way in which the Aadhaar project was conceived and executed and has remained immune from any public inquiries through the Right to Information Act so far. It has always cited national security to remain away from any RTIs inspite of field surveys from across the country reporting leakages, malpractices and fraud.

“There has never been anything like Aadhaar in India”

The letter goes into the details of the Aadhaar Act and says that the government is overstepping on its basic tenets. Five aspects of Aadhaar are questioned: the biometric fiasco, the defective demographic database, the extension of Aadhar to many other policies without reason, the corruption and limitations of Aadhaar and finally about regulating commercialization and data protection of Aadhaar.
