​Universal hero Kamal Haasan is very disappointed with the central government’s decision of imposing a huge tax on the film industry. This would certainly be a big problem for the producers especially those who make small budgeted flicks. Usually, the tax here in Telugu and Tamil film industries is close to 14 percent and now it has got doubled with the implementation of GST.

Speaking about this decision of the government, Kamal Haasan said he would be forced to quit films if the GST rate for the regional cinema is not slashed. Kamal Haasan has strongly reacted to this and said thay the GST is on its way to ruin the regional cinema. The actor has also termed the government as East India Company. The senior actor from South has demanded that the government should change the rules for regional film industries.​
