Former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao, whose house and office were searched by the Income Tax department on December 21 came down heavily on the Central government’s decision to search his house without a search warrant and without the permission of the present CM and categorically asked, “Where is the state government? What role or business does the Government of India and CRPF have to enter a Chief Secretary’s chamber? Did they get the chief minister’s permission? If madam [former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa] had been alive, would this happen in Tamil Nadu?”

“I am still the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu”

Alleging that the CRPF entered his house and his son’s house at gun point ,Rama Mohana Rao said that the search warrant produced by the CRPF did not have his name on it. “The search warrant had the name of my son…They found nothing. No incriminating documents were found.”

He further asserted that he was and still is the Chief Secretary as the government does not have the guts to serve him a transfer order. Mr. Rao was appointed as the Chief secretary to the Tamilnadu government when Amma( Jayalalithaa) took over the government for the second time. It was reported on December 22, immediately after the surprise raids, that Tamil Nadu’s Additional Chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan was appointed the state’s new chief secretary.

Unconstitutional assault

P Rama Mohana Rao also accused that he was still kept under house arrest and that his life is in danger. Addressing the media outside his house on Tuesday, he said the investigators found Rs 1,12,320 in his house, gold and silver weighing around 20-25 kg which belonged to his wife and daughter. He promised to seek justice from the people’s court.

He also thanked the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee and Congress Vice-President, Rahul Gandhi for supporting him and calling the whole exercise unconstitutional.

It must be recalled here that the Principal Secretary of Delhi , Rajendra Kumar of Aam Aadmi Party was also unceremoniously removed by the Centre after raiding his offices. Many at that time believed it to be part of the vendetta politics played by the Centre to destabilize the AAP in Delhi.
