‘Ginga’, the song composed by A.R.Rahman on the Brazilian football legend, Pele for the film, “Pele, Birth of a Legend” is one of the 91 songs shortlisted for the next Oscar awards- i.e the 89th Academy awards.
Rahman, already a double Oscar winner for his Original composition, “Jai ho” in the English film, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ (for both Best Original score and Best Original song) will now be in the hat trick race.
The final nomination list will be announced in January and the 89th Academy Awards will be held on February 26th 2017.
